Why won't my ps3 controller work?

I was playing Dragon Age Awakinings last night %26amp; my Ps3 controller worked fine.



Then this morning when I woke up %26amp; tried to play the controller won't start up.....no lights at all....no buttons work.....I didn't throw it or do anyting besides use it to play games....



The actual console still works (when turned on manually) %26amp; I tried placing the usb cable connection from the controller into port 1 %26amp; port 2 but the controller wont light up (charge).



Is the battery fried???....are my ports damaged???



Any way to test the controller without dropping 60 bucks on a new one...is there somekind of soft reset or something?Why won't my ps3 controller work?
From my experience i think PS3 controllers are self aware and only work when they feel like it.Why won't my ps3 controller work?
Try these. There's a button on the back of the controller to reset it.
