Need help with Dragon Age origins console?

I am running windows 7 (64bit). I figured out the -enabledeveloperconsole part. I have gone into the settings and added the ~ for the button at the end of the open console command line. I erased GRAVE. In the game I try hitting the ~ key but it won't work. I tried using the shift ` and that didn't work. I tried hitting backspace and that didn't work. The symbols at the top of the screen that are suppose to appear when you do this are not there. Please don't berate me with the whole cheating thing. I've been through the game now I want to have fun! Please help.Need help with Dragon Age origins console?
Don't worry. It's perfectly normal for no symbols to appear. However, one way to know you are in cheat mode is that you can't select anything, and your keyboard shortcuts don't work. What you have to do is go to where you installed Dragon age( most likely C:\ Program Files x86\ Dragon Age) and find the bin_ship folder. Find the file called daorigins.exe, right click, properties, and type in -enabledeveloperconsole Make sure it is outside the quotation marks, and that you put TWO spaces before the dash. Make a shortcut of that on your desktop. Next, go to Documents, Bioware, Dragon Age, Settings, and open the file calle KeyBindings.ini with Notepad. Scroll down until you find: OpenConsole_=0Keyboard::Button_grave,

and change it to:

OpenConsole_=Keyboard::Button_~

Double click the shortcut. If it worked, you should see Dragon Age start. Not the welcome screen, but the little screen with all the monster on it. Then, hit the key, and type in a cheat. You won't see anything, most likely. Here's a cheat for your mage: runscript addtalent 11110
