A console or PC game worth buying?

I've got a $70 budget for video game for the next 6 months, that's it. So it's either one new game or a couple aged games. I'm looking for a game that I can come back to over and over again, and takes more then the typical 8 hours to complete (else I'll just rent it once and be done with it). Also I will not have the time to play consistently enough to get competitive online so online play can't be the emphasis of the game (i.e. Call of Duty games) though the game need not be exclusively single player.

I'm open to all genres, though recently I've been favoring RPG's + Forza Motorsport 3

I have all current-gen consoles and quite a good PC so any platform is fine.

Games I've played recently:

-Forza Motorsport 3

-Mass Effect 1 and 2.

-Dragon Age Origins + Awakening

-Batman Arkham Asylum

-Just Cause 2

-GTA4

Games I'm considering:

-Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

-God of War III

-Red Dead Redemption

-Heavy Rain

-Uncharted 2

-Metal Gear Solid 4

-Gran Turismo 5

-NFS Hot Pursuit

-Battlefield Bad Company 2 (I know this is mainly online but my bro has it so I don't mind getting worked over)

Looking for opinions on these or any NEW recommendations.

Thanks.A console or PC game worth buying?
From the list: I recommend Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption got lots of Game of the Years so yeah. You can waste a lot of time on it, if you're into this kind of games (western, sandbox, etc.).

Not from the list: I recommend Dead Rising 2!

This game is really underappreciated. You get to kill zombies in a huge mall in Las Vegas. Sounds old, but it is VERY fun. The mall is very highly detailed and you won't get bored even if you ignore the story and go explore the place. It also has co-op in it, so you can persuade one of your friends to buy it and play with you.

If you want just one game for six months.. most of the games you list won't last you that long. I think you should buy cheaper games and save money for new releases later on.

For cheaper games:

-Super Meat Boy ($15)

-Chronicles of Riddick (old but still pretty fun, and practically 2 games in 1) ($20)

-Amnesia: The Dark Descent ($20)

-and my favorite Minecraft (this game can waste SO much of your time). (about $15 right now)

3 out of 4 are indie games because they're usually cheaper and still very fun.

You can also get Steam and check out the games there. They have a lot of cheap games and often breaks into crazy sales or giveaways.
You sound like the kinda guy who plays my kinda games. Sadly, 2010 had a REALLY bad hit with their games, but 2011 should make up for it. Wait just a little bit longer, and you should be able to get more cool games like Dead Space 2 or Brink. I know I'm looking forward to playing those 2!A console or PC game worth buying?
Personally i'm hunting for the red dead redemption undead apocalypse or whatever it was called atm, but from the options you suggest i'd go for MGS4.
May or may not be on your radar, Starcraft II. $50 atm. Free DLC, Free online play, Engrossing campaign, worth the buy. That or MGS4A console or PC game worth buying?
- God of war 3, Because it's simply a epic scaled game in all aspects. It's a finally of a trilogy, so if you havent played the other games you might not understand the story line and find the gameplay tough at first.

- Red dead redemption, If you like GTA4 you'll like RDR, Its got a good and long story line with pretty cool online play..

- I've heard Heavy rain is supposed to be good

- I'd highly recommend Assassins Creed Brotherhood, I haven't played it, But if it's like its other games it should be great, especially because of its new multiplayer.
From your list, I would definitely recommend Uncharted 2. Great story, dialogue, gameplay, etc.

I would also recommend Heavy Rain and Red Dead Redemption. But Uncharted 2 would be my first choice.

One that's one from the list, I would try S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. It's an older but very underrated game. You can get it for $20. While it's bleak, it's done in good taste. Very immersive and great atmosphere, as well as challenging. It should definitely take you more than 8 hours to complete. While it's a shooter, it does carry some RPG elements (side quests, loot). Be aware though, the game has got some bugs, so I would download the latest patch if you can.

Good luck! :)
