I am connecting it to a standard TV so it's not HD. I tried the whole two beep thing which did work the first time. I then tried to set up the internet and it went back to not working again. Then i tried it again and after fiddling around with the button on the back of the console and the power button. I got it to work, until i put dragon age origins in. The screen went black for about two minutes so i just turned the console off. Now it won't come on at all. I can't send it off either due to snow and how close to christmas it is, also this was meant to be a present for someone.

If you have a warranty then DON'T open it but, if you have no warranty or store warranty then you can try taking out the hard drive.
There is a blue screw that holds the hard drive in. Don't strip that screw it is a small philips head screw. Now once the screw is out slide it your right and then pull it out. Now boot up the PS3 and see what happeneds. It won't work because a PS3 needs the Hard drive but, it should boot up and show you an error message saying something on an order of it has no hard drive.
If it does boot without the hard drive then you have to get another hard drive it has to be 2.5 inches and 5400 RPM's.
If no lights are coming on then when you are powering it up then something is seriously wrong. with it and it should be returned.
