Dragon Age Origins cheat?

I absolutely cannot get the console to work. I've scoured every site, read comments, and tried troubleshooting.

My daorigins.exe reads: "C:\Program Files\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

I've tried using the tilde (both the symbol and the word itself), uppercase Y, and a few other free letters in the Key Bindings to get the console to come up. I've tried omitting the 0 (OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_Y), and I've tried it with the 0.

I've managed to get it to the point where the map and character profiles don't pop up when I start typing the cheat. From the videos I've seen, a bunch of white characters are supposed to appear at the top of the page when the console comes up. That doesn't happen. I've tried typing the cheats anyway, but I can't get any of them to work. Any ideas? Something obvious I'm missing?

Any help is appreciated. There's one part in the plot that, for the life of me, I can't get past. I'd like to get on with the game.Dragon Age Origins cheat?
Well, it sounds like you did everything right. The white characters are only supposed to appear if you type in the cheat wrong. Make it so that your character profiles don't pop up when you start typing the cheat, then type in the cheat, and hit enter.
